Connie's Guests for ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE

Alicia Wiley is a rare talent with amazing command of the piano, her voice, and the art of songwriting. Her piano chops have been steeped in classical and jazz, while her songwriting reflects strong pop influences. She is just as likely to be inspired by Miles Davis and John Coltrane as she is by Bjork and the Smashing Pumpkins. It is Alicia's ability to move deftly between pop melodies and jazz improvisation that has fans singing her praise. In this exciting age of genre-bending music, Alicia is one rapidly emerging artist that should not be missed.

Bassist Gary Raynor is a regular member of the Guys All Star Shoe Band on Prairie Home Companion.  A Minnesota resident since 1977, Raynor toured with Sammy Davis Jr. for several years and has performed with the Count Basie band, the original Carlton Celebrity Room Orchestra, the Minnesota Pops Orchestra, the Plymouth Music Series, as well as for The Guthrie Theater and dozens of Broadway touring shows, including the first presentation of The Lion King. He also accompanies national jazz artists at local venues.    Raynor is featured on Janet Jackson's hit single, "Again," performs with the New York-based "Soul on Fire," and has recorded and performed locally with the original Rio Nido, Debbie Duncan, Prudence Johnson, Pat Donohue, Connie Evingson, Adi Yeshaya, Klezmerica (Minnesota Klezmer Band) and others. Gary teaches at McNally Smith (formerly MusicTech) College.

The art of songwriting continues to find home in the music of guitarist and frontman Adam Levy. Known best for his pop-rock craftsmanship that’s guided The Honeydogs through 10 acclaimed releases, and more recently for the whimsical kids rock band Bunny Clogs, Levy is now embarking on a new project called “And the Professors” with a string quartet, members of the Heiruspecs, Mystery Palace, and Holly Munoz from Aviette.  Combining old and new sounds with electronic and acoustic instrumentation, And the Professors creates fragmented chamber pop songs about love. Adam also teaches popular music history, songwriting, audio engineering and mentors students at the Institute of Production and Recording and the MacPhail School of Music. For fun,  Adam heads up the ambitious 9 piece soul cover band Hookers $ Blow."

Drummer Noah Levy cut his teeth with his brother Adam Levy in the multi-genre rock band The Honeydogs and Trailer Trash in the 90’s and early 00’s. Noah has gone on to tour with Peter Frampton, Five for Fighting, The Bo Deans, and Mason Jennings to name only a fraction. His session credits include Golden Smog (with members of Wilco, The Jayhawks and Soul Asylum) Mandy Moore and most recently, the Grammy nominated Songs from Lonely Avenue by The Brian Setzer Orchestra.
