A Jungle internship offers a rich and challenging experience for qualified college students and recent graduates who
are actively pursuing careers in professional theatre. Intended to serve as a bridge between one’s collegiate and
professional lives, Jungle Internships provide hands-on experiences in the day-to-day workings of a professional theatre.
Interns have the opportunity to refine their practical and critical thinking skills through close interaction with Jungle staff
and artists. Jungle internships require that each intern be mature, self-reliant, articulate, able to work effectively in a
highly collaborative environment, and able to demonstrate competence in his or her specific area of interest.
Modest stipends are available for some positions; however, most internships are unpaid.
Academic credit is awarded at the discretion of the intern’s college or university. The Jungle does not provide housing
or housing stipends. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. The Jungle Theater is an equal opportunity employer.
This unpaid internship affords an opportunity to participate in a professional theater production: assist the stage manager
in rehearsal and may include backstage or onstage duties in performance. Candidates are hired per show and they must
be available from the first day of rehearsal (typically 4-5 weeks prior to opening) through the final performance. Hours are
variable during rehearsal weeks, full-time during tech and include all performances for the run: Tuesdays through Sundays
Candidates should have an interest in learning about the rehearsal and performance aspects of stage management and in
the backstage world of performance. Some experience in theater is helpful, but not require. Candidates should be outgoing,
have good listening skills and be able to work with groups of people including other interns.
To apply send a cover letter and resume to Sara Shives at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Jungle is proud to have more than 500 volunteers who donate their time and talent to help the theater realize
its goal of reaching out to the community.
