ONE OF A DUET OF INNOVATIVE PLAYS WITH MUSIC
2015 MINNESOTA FRINGe FESTIVAL Favorite
In the first of our duet of plays with music, a country schoolteacher named Ishmael signs on to a whaling trip with a captain he’s never met. Drawing freely from Herman Melville’s classic novel, Moby Dick, a shape-shifting actor and three bluegrass musicians conjure a funny, thoughtful, harrowing tale of one man’s drive to see the world.
WHENEVER IT IS A DAMP, DRIZZLY NOVEMBER IN MY SOUL; WHENEVER I FIND MYSELF BRINGING UP THE REAR OF EVERY FUNERAL I MEET; AND ESPECIALLY WHENEVER IT REQUIRES A STRONG MORAL PRINCIPLE TO PREVENT ME FROM DELIBERATELY STEPPING INTO THE STREET, AND METHODICALLY KNOCKING PEOPLE'S HATS OFF — THEN, I ACCOUNT IT HIGH TIME TO GET TO SEA AS SOON AS I CAN.
